I will be selling my bellydance artwork at the Raqs Britannia souk at Sheffield city hall this June. This is the biggest bellydance event in Europe and the souk is absolutely enormous so I am busy creating lots of new pieces and sourcing exciting new products to unviel at the event. I will keep you all informed about what is going to be available and will also be posting some special offers in my membership area so keep posted!
In the meantime check out the Raqs Britannia website for more information on the fabulous performances and workshops which will be at this amazing event.
LUU Bellydance Society Annual Society Hafla
The LUU society hafla was brilliant. There was a great atmosphere and some really varied and inspiring performances.
Helena bellydancer performed two gorgeous baladi pieces, which amazingly were both improvised.
Kalia's solo performance was also beautiful and fluid and she looked like a mermaid in a fabulous blue shiny costume.
Dancers bizare did two really fun pieces, one where they dressed as men, which was fabulous and a beautiful gypsy swishy skirt number.
The Ashay dance troupe fused tribal and bollywood style dance and were fantastically original. I love bollywood dance as I am a great fan of all things bollywood. Learning to dance in this style is definitely on my to do list and I plan to draw some bollywood dancers in the future too.
The society preseidents Mel Hayirlioglu and Heather Haggis both performed solo's which were so sassy and full of personality. They are both very captivating to watch. Heather performed the self choreographed piece which won her the enJOY award for best amature bellydancer at JOY this April.
Natalie Ashton Eaton did a flawless solo piece with lots of fabulous hair flicking, which was really beautiful to watch.
I was also really impressed with the student performances, which were very original and full of energy.
All in all a fantastic night, can't wait for the next one!
I will be selling my belly dance art, merchandise and gifts at the LUU bellydance societies annual hafla at Leeds university. I have designed a new Sabrina belly dancer bag which will be on sale for the first time at this event. I will post a first look at the design in the members area first so log in to see it and pick up special offers for the event.
